Nancy Guthrie was abducted from her house over two months ago, and yet the investigation so far has produced very little in the way of results. We don’t really know what happened to Savannah Guthrie’s mom; there is no suspect, and no motive has been disclosed. But there have been a few ransom notes, a couple of which even the family believed were real.
And now, there are more. With Savannah Guthrie returning to the Today show on April 6, other ransom notes surfaced, according to Rob Shuter. And Guthrie had already been warned this was likely going to happen. “She was told this would happen the moment she went back on TV,” one insider told Shuter. “And sadly, it did.”

There were reportedly multiple notes received, including two sent to TMZ. “Visibility brings opportunity,” the source explained. “And not just for real leads — but for people looking to cash in.”
It has already been reported that the Guthrie family received false ransom notes from people trying to get money without having any real information. “It’s exactly what she feared,” the source said. “People inserting themselves into the story for attention or money.”
And the gossip columnist says it all puts the family between a rock and a hard place. “You can’t ignore any of it,” the source added. “Because what if one is real?”
“Every message brings hope — and then doubt,” the insider also said. “It’s exhausting.”
But Savannah is standing firm in her decision. “She understood the spotlight would amplify everything,” the source said. “The good — and the very dark.”
TMZ reported that the notes they received were from the same person offering to turn in the kidnappers for a price. The note is demanding 1 bitcoin to “deliver them on a silver platter.” But there’s more information this time, with the note saying Nancy is alive and in the state of Sonora, in Mexico.
“I Saw her alive with them in the state of Sonora Mexico,” the note read. The first note, however, indicate she was dead.
“It’s unbelievable that millions have been wasted and yet here I am willing to deliver them on a silver platter since the 11th of february for a bitcoin but I am disregarded as a scam … they are free and the case is frozen but the ego’s remain hot when it comes to me. Arrogance at it’s finest,” the first note added.
There’s more. “I just want whats fair and to live peacefully with enough to start my life again quietly with out having to join a witness protection program,” the second note read. The person has offered to provide the information for half a bitcon, wit the other half deposited when an arrest is made.
Nancy Guthrie was abducted from her house in Tucson, Arizona, sometime between the night of January 31 and the early hours of February 1. The investigation so far points to a masked, armed individual taking Guthrie from the house overnight. There are no signs this was a robbery.
The reward for information about Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance is up to $1 million.
