Everyone even tangentially involved with the British royal family has opinions about the state of the monarchy and the damage Andrew’s scandals have caused it. And those close to Andrew, Fergie, and their two daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, are probably best equipped to comment on the fallout.

Now, Alessandro Mapelli Mozzi, Princess Beatrice‘s father-in-law, is speaking out about his son Edoardo’s marriage. In an interview with The Mail, the elder Mapelli Mozzi categorically said, “I have plenty of opinions, but I am not going to talk about them.”

He even added, “It’s not my affair, you should go and talk to my son about it.”

Edoardo Mapelli Mozi does not have a close relationship with his father and has frequently referred to his mother’s second husband, his stepfather, as his father.

The refusal to discuss the marriage and how it could have been affected by the Andrew scandal comes after Closer Magazine reported that Beatrice and Edoardo don’t necessarily agree on the next steps regarding her parents. Both Fergie and Andrew have been mentioned in the Epstein files, and Andrew is currently being investigated for suspicion of misconduct in public office for conduct taking place during his time as a trade envoy for the UK.

“Edo wants Beatrice to draw a line in the sand with her parents. From his perspective, creating some distance is the only thing to do right now if they want to save their own skins but Beatrice isn’t willing to do it,” the outlet reported.

“Despite everything that’s happened, she still feels a deep sense of loyalty to her parents, she’s not willing to turn her back on them and she resents Edo for even suggesting it,” the source added. “To him it’s a matter of survival and he’s telling friends she’s making a huge mistake, he’s clearly pretty angry about it so unless one of them suddenly changes course, it could cause some serious problems within their marriage.”

The report even indicated that “things between her and Edo are hanging by a thread” and “Beatrice is panicking and has told friends she’s worried that he’s pulling away. She’s saying this is all her parents’ fault, that things were perfect between her and Edo before they turned the family name radioactive. She says they’ve ruined nearly every aspect of life and now it’s threatening her marriage.”

Questions about the two started up after Edoardo posted some pictures of a project his company is developing in Palm Beach, Florida. Some people questioned the timing of the posts, particularly considering how complicated things are for his wife right now.

An insider told the magazine, “Edo was used to a certain lifestyle and level of access that came with being attached to the Royal Family, and now that things have shifted, it’s not sitting well with him at all. There’s a growing sense that he’s questioning this new dynamic in the marriage, especially because this has impacted his social standing and status is important in his world.”

“Edo has been escaping to America more and more. He claims he needs to be there for work but of course it looks like he’s abandoning ship and leaving Beatrice to handle things on her own and that’s certainly her complaint, though she’d never admit that publicly.”
