We all want to make sure the people we love are protected when we’re gone. That’s a natural

human emotion. It’s just that sometimes, the situation is very complicated. Like with King Charles’ reported desire to make sure his wife, Queen Camilla, is protected after his death.

There’s a lot of history there. Charles and Camilla had an affair, which famously started before Charles met Princess Diana, mother to William and Harry, and continued throughout their marriage. After Princess Diana died, King Charles and Queen Camilla went on to marry in 2005 and are now celebrating their 21st wedding anniversary.

But that doesn’t mean some wounds don’t run deep for Prince William. And that’s reportedly exactly what the King is concerned about. RadarOnline is reporting that Charles has made one request of his son: to leave his wife alone.

The outlet says that even though William has managed to “make nice” and “work alongside” Camilla, “Most people believe he’s still harboring a lot of resentment toward her” for her role in breaking up his parents’ marriage.

Princess Diana once claimed about her marriage to Charles, “There were three of us in this marriage, so it was a bit crowded,” in reference to Camilla.

“The way Camilla betrayed their mother has not been forgotten by either of Diana’s children,” a source claimed. “William is more diplomatic than Harry, so he’s tried to disguise his resentment.”

But what will happen when Charles is gone? Reportedly, that’s the concern. And sources say this is exacerbated by the fact that William has been ruthless when it comes to his brother Harry.

“William is already showing a ruthless streak,” a source said. “It’s no wonder Charles worries he’s unlikely to find a place for Camilla in his new order.”

This all comes after reports that Camilla and William have not been seeing eye to eye on Charles’ workload as the king continues treatment for cancer. “William has been urging his father to ease off and genuinely take a step back to focus on his health, but each time he brings it up, it seems to trigger tension because Camilla is seen as encouraging Charles to keep pushing forward with his public duties. It’s becoming a recurring point of conflict between them.”

Reportedly, this came to a head recently, during the state banquet welcoming the Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the First Lady. “The state banquet in particular really brought those differences to the surface.”

“William was firmly of the view that Charles simply wasn’t well enough to attend and should have prioritized rest, but Camilla was adamant that their presence was necessary, especially given the scrutiny the family is under.”

In the end, the King did attend. “They ultimately went ahead, but it didn’t ease concerns – if anything, it heightened them.”

However, all might not be lost for Camilla, as some suggest that William is preparing to be the kind of king who minimizes scandals. “William is being encouraged to seek guidance and support – effectively being ‘in therapy’ to help train him for the throne and prepare him for the diplomatic demands of kingship,” a source said. “The message coming from the top is that he needs to become a true diplomat, someone who can rise above personal grievances and think strategically about the monarchy’s future.”

We’ll have to wait and see if that extends to Camilla.
