As a beauty writer, I’m no stranger to red light therapy and LED masks. I’ve covered the technology countless times (including the best red light therapy devices), and regularly incorporate these skincare tools into my own beauty and wellness regimen, whether it be testing out a new mini red light wand or meditating in front of my red light panel.
With so many devices available, it takes a lot for me to be impressed by a new-to-me mask, especially when I already have my arsenal of favorites. So, trust me when I say that the iRestore Illumina Face Mask is unlike any mask or device I have tried before—and it’s currently on mega sale for the iRestore 20th anniversary sale.

I’m used to the softer silicone face masks, so I was a bit hesitant about the iRestore Illumina Face Mask—but it’s honestly just as comfortable and lightweight as my Omnilux face mask. The device is super easy to use, allowing you to choose between the three different wavelengths (or select them all for the ultimate LED therapy session). It fits comfortably on the face, hovering slightly above the skin instead of sitting against it, providing better air flow during each 10-minute session.
Aside from its wavelength trio and comfortable fit, my favorite feature is the eye shield. Most red light face masks are super bright, and you can’t really see your surroundings. So, even if they’re cordless and designed to be used while completing other tasks, you typically have to lie down with your eyes closed during the sessions—otherwise you can’t see what you’re doing. This face mask has a uniquely designed eye area that shields you from the brightness and makes it possible to do other tasks while wearing it—I wore mine while working at my computer, crocheting, and watching TV with no issues.
Since I have so much experience with LED devices, I understand that patience is key, and you are likely not going to see results within the first few weeks or even the first month. This was true for the iRestore mask, as I didn’t really notice a difference in my skin within the first five weeks, but after six weeks of regular use, I can see more radiance in my complexion. I’m also not someone with acne-prone skin, but I do experience the occasional blemish and didn’t experience any breakouts during the testing period, even around my cycle (when at least one pesky pimple pops up).
Pros:
Cons:

The iRestore Illumina Face Mask is super easy to use and convenient to add into your skincare routine, thanks to its shorter session time and comfortable straps that allow you to wear it while doing other things around the house (or, in my case, while working at my desk).
Start by removing any makeup and cleansing your skin. Put the mask on a fresh face and let it work its magic for 10 minutes. After the session time is up, remove the mask and apply topical skincare products to enhance the benefits of LED therapy. Follow up with regular 10-minute sessions three to five times per week. For best results, I recommend starting with five days per week, then after the six- to 12-week mark (or whenever you’re satisfied with your results), switch to three times per week for maintenance.
“In terms of usage, 10 minutes per day, 3 to 5 times per week is typically sufficient to see results, provided the device is well-designed and used consistently,” says Reszko. “Most patients begin to notice improvements in skin tone, clarity, and texture within 4 to 8 weeks, with continued benefits over time.” She adds that patience is key here and more frequent use is not necessarily better, as the skin responds better to cumulative, controlled stimulation rather than overexposure.
After testing the iRestore Illumina Face Mask for six weeks, I think that this face mask is definitely worth it if you want a more versatile option that can target all of the concerns that red light and infrared light can address, plus the added bonus of blue light therapy. The fact that you can use multiple wavelengths at the same time is a major selling point for me, since that can lessen the overall commitment and make it easier to incorporate into your routine.
This device is more expensive compared to other top LED masks, but you essentially get three masks in one, making the investment worth it. And with the iRestore anniversary sale, you can snag the best deal on its LED devices—including the face mask, which is $400 off right now.
Before testing the iRestore mask, the Omnilux face mask was my go-to red light face mask. I like that it has a soft, silicone structure, and the red LED lights provide a calming sensation while also targeting signs of aging, such as fine lines, wrinkles, and dull skin. In my opinion, one mask is not better than the other, but you do get more bang for your buck with the iRestore Illumina Face Mask (especially if you can snag it on sale), since it has the added benefit of three different LED wavelengths and can therefore target more concerns like pimples and large pores while also protecting against future breakouts.
There are several noteworthy differences between the iRestore Illumina Face Mask and the Omnilux Comtour face mask. The Omnilux mask features a soft and flexible silicone design that sits against the skin, whereas the iRestore mask is made with a hard shell design that hovers over the skin and has enhanced eye protection, so you can actually see while using the mask (and therefore read, work, watch TV, or do chores around the house), making it more convenient to use. Both masks are lightweight and comfortable.
The Omnilux is designed with 132 red and near-infrared lights, while the iRestore has 360 LED lights and combines the benefits of three wavelengths, including red, infrared, and the addition of blue light therapy to target acne, protect against future breakouts, and shrink pores. I love that you can use all three wavelengths separately or combine them for a more enhanced at-home treatment. Since the Omnilux sits right on your face, it’s not as breathable as the iRestore, but both are ultra-comfortable for the 10-minute sessions (I’d honestly wear them for longer). Both the Omnilux and iRestore LED masks are also FSA/HSA eligible.
We tested the iRestore Illumina Face Mask for a total of six weeks, starting with three weekly 10-minute sessions. Then, after a few weeks of implementing it into our routines, we increased it to five sessions per week.
While we didn’t see results as soon as some other reviews and customers claim, we did notice a subtle change to our complexion’s radiance at the six-week mark. Red light therapy masks typically take time to deliver benefits that you can see with your naked eye. With regular use, it can take up to three months to notice some changes to your skin.
A note about our tester’s skin and red light habits: Our tester has a fair complexion that is prone to fine lines and age spots (thank you, California sun). Although she tested all three wavelengths, acne and large pores are not a major concern for her skin, so we can’t speak firsthand to the benefits of this mask’s blue light inclusion. However, we will say this: She didn’t experience a single pimple throughout the testing period. It’s also worth noting that our tester received Botox injections a few weeks before testing the LED mask.
Red light therapy is something our tester regularly uses in her routine, with regular red light panel sessions and LED face mask treatments. When she began her initial testing period, it had been around one month since she used another red light face mask.
