It’s King Charles and Harry are doing better now, and their meeting is a go, or their relationship has broken down again, and they will never see each other again. One extreme or the other. Reports about what’s happening between father and son vary wildly, and it’s hard to know what is happening behind closed doors. But some things are just facts, like Harry’s non-involvement in events surrounding the Queen’s 100th birthday.

King Charles’ 3-minute tribute to the Queen included Prince William, Kate Middleton, and their three kids, but it did not mention Harry, Meghan, or their kids. This is likely because the video featured the Queen on the Buckingham Palace balcony during her Diamond Jubilee celebration in June 2022. By that time, Harry and Meghan were no longer working royals.

And, of course, since the two live in the United States, they were not present for the events surrounding the anniversary.

But the video was mostly a tribute from Charles to his mother, where he spoke about how, ever since her first public broadcast at the age of 14, his mother spoke about how “we can each play our part to make the world of tomorrow a better and happier place.”

The king added, “So young or old and whatever our differences, let us therefore seek to follow this example as we make today not the marking of a milestone felt absence but the celebration of a life well-lived and a legacy of hope as we strive together towards a better, happier tomorrow.”

Reportedly, Prince Harry sent flowers to the Queen’s grave at the King George VI Memorial Chapel at Windsor Castle to commemorate her birthday.

Celebrations for the Queen’s birthday mostly centered on the senior working royals, with the official Instagram account sharing a picture of the group.

The new reports about Harry come after reports that a new meeting between Charles and Harry is no longer in the plans. Rob Shuter’s Shuterscoop says that there were no “firm trial dates locked in,” and the meeting was never a certainty. “Charles is in complete control,” a source said. “If he wanted a father-son reunion, it would happen. There’s just no desire on either side right now.”

Another added, “Harry’s schedule is tight, but that’s not the real issue — it’s mutual choice. A sit-down isn’t in the cards.”

Radar Online is reporting that part of the reason Charles is avoiding a meeting is that he does not want to be associated with Harry’s lawsuit against the Daily Mail publisher, saying that it could be “politically disastrous.”

The outlet claims Charles is afraid of appearing “weak” and “foolish” if a second meeting takes place. “What has changed is not Harry, but the internal balance of power around the king,” royal expert Tom Sykes explained. “This new attempt to recalibrate his position vis-à-vis Harry looks to me like a recognition it was a mistake.”

“That is why the currently evolving new stance – no meeting without an apology, no proximity while Harry is embarrassing the family in court – is gaining traction inside the palace,” Sykes claimed. “It could allow Charles to reclaim a measure of authority, and, crucially, to align himself more closely with [Prince] William’s uncompromising position.”
